BREAKING NEWS: Max Elliot Anderson Signs 11 Book Contract

Children’s adventure and mystery author, Max Elliot Anderson, has signed contracts for 11 books to be published by two publishers.

Comfort Publishing, in Concord, North Carolina, will republish his first 7 titles after the original publisher could not withstand the economic pressures that have hurt so many small businesses.

The titles to be republished by Comfort Publishing include Newspaper Caper, Terror at Wolf Lake, North Woods Poachers, Mountain Cabin Mystery, Big Rig Rustlers, Secret of Abbott’s Cave, and Legend of the White Wolf. A new book, Barney and the Runaway, will also be published.

Comfort Publishing has also contracted a first right of refusal option on another 16 titles and wants to pursue an extensive series with him. This could become a 24 book deal. “These books are already written,” Anderson said, “although I'm doing a revision on each one to increase the word count.”

“Over a period of 3 ½ years,” Mr. Anderson added, “I wrote 35 manuscripts. Now I’m glad I did that.” Each book has different characters, locations, and plots.

Mr. Anderson is also developing the Sam Cooper Adventure Series with Port Yonder Press in Shellsburg, Iowa. “It’s a new step for me,” Anderson said. “Writing a traditional series, in the same locations, with the same characters, requires a different set of writing skills.”

Book # 1 in the Sam Cooper Adventure Series is Lost Island Smugglers which will be published on June 1, 2010. This book will be followed by the end of the year with Captain Jack’s Treasure, and River Rampage. The plan calls for more titles to be written for this series in the future.

Further details can be found on Mr. Anderson’s blog, Books for Boys, at http://booksandboys.blogspot.com This blog consistently ranks # 1 on Google, when searching for information about books for boys.

“I began writing in 2001 because I grew up hating to read,” Anderson said. “Now, with a recent study released by the Center on Education Policy, which spotlights the difficulties boys have with reading, my books seem to be coming out at just the right time.”

Max Elliot Anderson began writing his action-adventures and mysteries especially for boys 8 – 13. They are equally enjoyed by girls. Even adults find his books hard to put down.

Kids report, “Reading one of your books is like being in an exciting movie.”

Editor Announces Upcoming Re-launch of "Sunset Gazette"

After a complete overhaul of KidMagine.com, editor Jason McDonald is preparing to re-launch the feature that started it all.

The "Sunset Gazette", formerly known as the "Bunny World News", was created by a young Jason McDonald and his mother, Dancing Word Writers Network editor, Anne McDonald. The newspaper centered on the talking-animal-filled fictional world from Jason's imagination.

The "Bunny World News" was published to a free-server website, which later was moved to the Dancing Word Writer's Network server. This website became Kid'Magine, which itself was later renamed to KidMagine.com.

The "Sunset Gazette" was the spotlight feature of KidMagine.com for many years. After several re-workings of the imaginary world's dynamics, "Bunnyville" soon became "Animalia", and later "Aniana".

Now, after a complete overhaul of the website, Jason McDonald is preparing to bring back the old favorite. "The Sunset Gazette is the very essence of KidMagine.com. Being a creation of my own childhood imagination, it captures the spirit of creativity."

However, unlike old versions of the Sunset Gazette, McDonald reports that this new version will be created, not by just himself and the staff, but largely by the visitors. "I've been struggling with the details of Aniana for some time now. However, I think that is best left to the contributing visitors. The dynamics, stories, and illustrations are up to them to create. I'm only here to make sure everything flows in unison."

The actual details of the system used for submitting and approving creative contributions to the Sunset Gazette are currently under consideration by the KidMagine.com Editorial Board.

So for now, all we can do is wait expectantly.
